My classes are always an exploration! I am a student and a teacher. You are a teacher and student. Let’s work together to deepen our experience of being in these animal bodies.
Exploring our nature
The 5 elements are so rich in dynamics, texture and essential wisdom— we hold these essences within us. I use my own interpretations from my continued studies in the Indian Science of Ayurveda and Traditional Thai Medicine to incorporate earth, fire, water, wind, and ether into somatic movement, Yoga postures, breath and meditation practice.
Following the path of least resistance
My practice as a modern dancer has always asked me to focus on release as a way to move my body more efficiently. I love modern dance for this reason, and release technique is a concept that informs and inspires all my studies.
Somatics is an umbrella term for the ways a human being can explore themselves from the inside. When we hone our inner eye it creates the opportunity for each of us to find the path of least resistance. The somatic perspective is diverse and invites the possibility for us to look like ourselves, not some facade of perfection. This beautifully radical approach fosters longevity in our moving bodies and fluid minds.
Intentionality is required
It is not complex, it is not “woo woo”. The truth is, the intention behind everything we do will inform the outcome. And so, venturing into yoga, somatics, bodywork, mindfulness, any practice really, we must always ask ourselves, what is my intention? Evaluate and reevaluate, change or evolve it, because at the end of the day this intention serves as a baseline of support in the outcomes of all your practices!
A compassionate practice is a practice of forgiveness, grasping the collective suffering, increasing self love, empathy and essentially breaking your heart more widely open to it all. It’s the path I am on; learning, making mistakes, forgiving myself, continually unraveling what I think I know, seeing myself in those I work with, widening the space inside my heart, healing.
See you on the path, I promise it won’t be easy, but may our hearts grow wider with each step towards the liberation for all beings.
